Saturday, Oct. 7: Watson Adventures’ Secrets of Central Park Family Scavenger Hunt, 10:30 am, 7+, $17.50-$21.50. Advance ticket purchase required. Kids and adults work together to explore the park below 72nd Street. To score points, you’ll have to find Stuart Little, stick your tongue out at a rude animal, learn the motto of a hidden eagle, decipher a secret code by the pond seen in Home Alone 2, spot Cupid at the Carousel, unscramble a message in the sky, and find a witch turned to stone. Columbus Day Parade, 1 pm.  The Federation of Italian Americans Organization is leading the march up 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst between 60th and 84th Streets. Brooklyn Blessing of the Animals, 2 pm. Nondenominational blessing of Brooklyn pets. Grand Army Plaza, Union Street between Flatbush Avenue and Prospect Park West. I imagine they mean by the park opening opposite the arch. Hercules in Brooklyn, 5 pm. A theater project focusing on gun violence, featuring actors Paul Giamatti and Chinasa Ogbuagu readin from a modern translation of The Madness of Hercules. Van Dyke Amphitheater, 392 Blake Ave. between Powell Street and Mother Gaston Boulevard. Musicality, 6 pm, 16+, $35–$50. An international fusion of Broadway, jazz, and soul. St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 4301 Avenue D at E. 43rd Street.
