Giglio, weekdays, 6 pm to 11 pm, Saturdays, 6 pm to midnight, Sundays, Noon to 11 pm until Sunday, July 16. Free but food, rides, artwork and activities have separate fees. Celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the traditional Giglio. Community feast honors Saint Paolino and features faith, food, music, neighborhood pride, history, colorful cultural celebrations, and international visitors. The festival is capped with 125 men lifting a four-ton tower during the “Dance of the Giglio.” There will be an opening mass on July 5 at 7pm, a special children’s Giglio Lift on July 6 at 6 pm; Distribution of Blessed Bread on July 8 beginning at 11; am; Mass on July 9th – Giglio lift at 2 pm; Old Timer’s Giglio Lift on July 15 at 4 pm; and Procession of the Statue of our Lady of Mt. Love the park? share your art, hosted by the Prospect Park Alliance, the open call is on for inclusion into the Connective Project, an immersive community art installation. The pieces, uploaded in moments, will adorn a field of thousands of pinwheels to create an undulating wave of color that blankets the two-and-half acre Rose Garden.
