Thursday and Friday events at Brooklyn College and beyond

All events are in Brooklyn unless noted and most are free. Most Brooklyn College events are in the Student Center (SUBO) unless noted. Many are bars so check if under age. Many off-campus are bars so check if under age. If you can’t drink you might be able to eat there.
Thursday, May 4: Know Your Rights Training, Sociology Club, 12:15- 2:15 pm, ActionNYC speaker on the legal rights of immigrants, 3604 James Hall. CSU Caribbean Culture Night, 6-10 pm, Bedford Lounge (2nd floor).  A Guide to Interview Skills, 12:15-2:15 pm, Glenwood Lounge (2nd floor), Glenwood Lounge (2nd floor). IVCF Creative Night, 5-9 pm, Jefferson-Williams Lounge (4th floor).  This night will be one filled with poetry, art, performances, and much. GTO Financial Planning Workshop, 6-8 pm, 301 Whitehead Hall, Graduate Theatre Organization.  The workshop will cover staying in control of student loans and credit card debt, finding balance between pursuing your dreams and taking care of yourself financially, and creating stability with variable income. CLAS Spring Formal, $15, 7-11 pm, Gargiulo’s Restaurant 2911 W 15th St, Coney Island. Friday, May 5:  Cinco de Mayo with Mexican Heritage Student Association  (MEHSA),  6-10 pm, Bedford Lounge second floor. Off-Campus:  Afro Renaissance Ball, 7 pm, $55. Konjo Isizwe Academy hosts a black tie fund-raiser, with Grammy-winning artist Bilal. United Grand Chapter, 441 Willoughby Ave. at Nostrand Avenue. Stargazing at Evergreens Cemetery, 7 pm. Join the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York and observe the night sky.
