Thursday and Friday events at Brooklyn College and beyond

All events are in Brooklyn unless noted and most are free. Most Brooklyn College events are in the Student Center (SUBO) unless noted. Almost all club events are open to all BC students in their area such as CLAS, SGS, GSO as designated on their ID. For example, an ethnic named club or club with associated with a major anyone can attend. Many are bars so check if under age. Many are bars so check if under age.  Thursday March 30: Women’s Appreciation Diner, 6-10 pm, Gold Room. suggested $10 donation. BC Against Trump, 12:30-1:30 pm, 2127 Ingersoll Hall, led by Prof. Tim Shortell, teach-in & workshop series on resistance to the Trump agenda. IVCF Large Group, 12:30-2 pm, Amersfort Lounge (2nd floor), Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Transgender Literacy Project and Workshop, 12:30-2 pm, Occidental Lounge (5th floor). In honor of Transgender Day of Visibility (which occurs annually on March 31st), the LGBTA and LGBTQ Resource Center have invited Honest Accomplice Theatre to do a showing of their video series, the Trans Literacy Project. An accompanying workshop will follow the viewing of the video series. Addressing topics such as pronoun usage, acceptable questions and how to be an ally, the series is a valuable resource for trans people to both ease the burden of education, and create a space to explore issues facing the trans community.”

Off-Campus: The Truth About Sugar, 9 am to 12 pm.  St. Joseph’s College professors explore the societal impact of sugar consumption. St. Joseph’s College, near the courts. 245 Clinton Ave. between Willoughby and Dekalb Avenues.

Friday, Mar 31: Shabbat Dinner, 5:30-8:30 pm, Hillel Club, services followed by a dinner at Hillel. The Table Tennis League Weekly Practice, 1-4:30 pm, Club Room (basement of Student Center). Coney Island Butoh and Beyond, Butoh dancers pay homage to Coney Island’s history, along with burlesque dancers and performance artists this Fridays and Saturdays, 8 pm, Sundays, 4 pm,  $15. Sideshows by the Seashore,1208 Surf Ave. between W. 12th Street and Stillwell Avenue.  Lola Star’s Ice Disco, 7-10 pm, $20, with the Prospect Park Alliance skates off at the Lefrak Center. 21 and over please. LeFrak Center at Lakeside, 171 East Dr. at Ocean Avenue, Prospect Park.
