Thursday and Friday events at Brooklyn College and beyond

Most Brooklyn College events are in the Student Center (SUBO) and free unless noted. If it sounds too good check first. Any student can go to dozens of club events. The only specification is being in your group such as CLAS students go to CLAS clubs, the same for SGS and GSO.

Thursday, Mar 9: Fan Night with Anime Manga, 5:45-10 pm, Alumni. Paint and Sip, 6-10 pm, with PSC, basement. Girl Rising film is about a global movement for girls’ education, 12:15-2:15 pm, Glenwood Room.  Mental Health Workshop, 12-3 pm, Gold Room (6th floor). Stress Screening via web or in person at BC. Open Mic Night with Stuck in the Library Magazine, 7-9 pm, Occidental Lounge (5th floor). A neon night of poetry, music and art. Dinner and refreshments will be served. RSVP on Facebook. IVCF Large Group, 12:30-2 pm, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
Come out and join us for a time of fellowship, fun, and food, Maroney-Leddy Lounge (4th floor). Whose Budget “Line” is it Anyway? With student government, 6-8 pm, Bedford Lounge (2nd floor).

Friday, Mar 10: Women’s Leadership Summit, 9 am-5 pm, Gold Room (6th floor). The theme is “Passion, power, and purpose.” Speakers include President Michelle Anderson, Associate Vice Chancellor Andrea Shapiro Davis, IBM’s Director of Marketing Christine Lemyze, Chairman of Guttman Community College Lisette Nieves (a Brooklyn College alumnae, Rhodes scholar, and the first Latina Truman scholar), and more incredible women! This forum will provide participants with the opportunity to meet and work collaboratively with peers, mentors, and leaders. This experience will allow participants to meet new leaders and foster new working relationships. Join us to meet these incredible women on March 10, 2017. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Brooklyn Navy Yard-Inside Industry Tours, 9:30 am, $20. Tour some of the 330 businesses in the thriving industrial park. With visits to woodworking shops, spacesuit makers, and the new technology center.  Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92, 63 Flushing Ave at Carlton Avenue.
