Sunday, July 31: International Day of Worship with the theme “One People United by Faith,” followed by an international food tasting event at 2 pm, featuring dishes from the Caribbean and guest entertainers, 10:30 am and 2 pm, $15 (food tasting), First Baptist Church of Crown Heights, 450 Eastern Pkwy. Come aboard the schooner Pioneer and set sail past Governors Island for the fishing grounds of Bay Ridge. There will be a trawl net and participants will haul it in, bringing up a variety of creatures from blue crabs to flounder. Possibly catch a sea horse or a puffer fish. Sailing goes past the Statue of Liberty, learn about the sea creatures caught, examine plankton through a view-scope, test the water to learn how animals live here, and learn about our marine ecosystem.
