Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with over 60 events and performances

Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens this Saturday and Sunday with over 60 events and performances that celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. It has fields of pink blossoms. It has a fashion show, sword ceremony, a lot of dances, drumming and instruments not seen in the NY. Also there are usually a magician, kiminos, pinwheels and puzzle events. The lily pond is a must and everything there depicts tranquility such as the carp and the bridge. To buy food there are 20 minute lines by the main building but shorter lines by the main stage, so you may want to bring your own. Admission is $20 for students, $25 adults but sometimes college students get in for free.

A group from Brooklyn College will meet at the Eastern Parkway entrance at the front of the line at 2 p.m. and get a free map. If going wear something from the college or e-mail back to robinQhood@yahoo.com or leave your phone number. I’ll wear an orange reflective vest like construction workers or bikers wear. If late meet us at other events such as at 2:30 p.m. we will be at the sword fight at the Main Stage at the Cherry Esplanade by the right or quieter side of the stage. From there we may go to the pond. If still late possibly at 4:30–5 p.m. we will be at the Parasol Society Fashion Show there or everyone can go to whatever events they want. The 2 and 5 train stops right there at the Eastern Museum/Brooklyn Museum stop. Reply if interested and if you like with your phone number.
