A group mainly from Brooklyn College and others (most are strangers to each other) are going this Sunday to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens 1:30 pm. It has fields of pink blossoms. It has a fashion show, sword ceremony, a lot of dances, drumming and instruments not seen in the NY. Also there are usually a magician, kiminos, pinwheels and puzzle events. Sunday is the better day to go because of the Fashion Show. The lily pond is a must and everything there depicts tranquility like the bridge. To buy food there are 20 minute lines so you may want to bring your own. Admission is $20 for students and seniors, $25 adults. Tentatively we will meet at the Eastern Parkway entrance 1:30 pm and I’ll wear an orange reflective vest like construction workers or bikers wear. If late we may be at the lily pond and then at 2 pm we will be at the sword fight at the main stage at the cherry esplanade by the quieter side of the stage, possibly at 3 pm at the folk dance there possibly the lily pond next and at the parade at 5:15 pm or everyone can go to whatever events they want. The 2 and 5 train stops right there at the Eastern Museum/Brooklyn Museum stop. Reply if interested. For a list of events go to http://www.bbg.org/visit/event/sakura_matsuri_2015#/tabs-2.
