Thursday: a lot of Student Center events so just check the lobby display monitor. Film screening of Watchers of the Sky, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM, Woody Tanger Auditorium, Library. After the film, guest speaker Joseph Lemkin will address the audience.
Girl Geek Dinners presents BC Faculty Edition, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM, Student Center, Alumni Lounge, 4th Floor, as you hear personal accounts of female faculty and graduate students at BC, as they recount their challenges, successes, and share advice on how we can achieve our career goals. Brooklyn College Big Band: “Global Perspectives on Jazz” – Preconcert talk: 7 p.m.; Concert: 8 p.m., 7:00 PM, Whitman Theatre, $10 General Admission/$7 Seniors/Free for students with CUNY ID. World-renowned alto saxophonist and composer Rudresh Mahanthappa joins triple Grammy-winning band leader, Professor Arturo O’Farrill, director of the BC Jazz Ensembles, in a special performance showcasing the melding of Eastern and Western concepts of composition and improvisation. 7 p.m. – Pre-concert talk with Rudresh Mahanthappa, Arturo O’Farrill, and Jeffrey Taylor, director of the H. Wiley Hitchcock Institute for Studies in American Music. Friday: Student Recital: Nia Austin, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Studio 312, Roosevelt Extension and free.
